BMW

The 5 Series was the model that inaugurated the new naming system used by BMW from then on: three figures, the first of which indicates the market segment to which it belongs and the other two indicate the displacement in cm³ divided by 100 .

The final car was presented at the 1972 Frankfurt Motor Show: created by Paul Bracq, the bodywork design was based on the 1970 Bertone prototype "BMW Garmisch 2002ti" presented at the Geneva show and designed by Marcello Gandini. In that period, Gandini had also designed other successful cars such as the Fiat 132 and the Alfa Romeo Alfetta, two cars that had a styling very similar to that of the new BMW, especially in the front. Other BMW models that would be born in a few years would also adopt similar stylistic canons.

The mechanics, however, are classic, with rear-wheel drive, MacPherson strut front axle, independent rear axle with oscillating axle shafts, 4-speed manual gearbox and braking system with front discs and rear drums.

This car, in the 6-cylinder configuration, has always been maniacally looked after by its only owner, in possession of all the documentation of the services carried out by BMW, the car has never been involved in an accident, all first paint, various works have been carried out to reactivate it but it has never undergone no restoration, beautifully preserved car.
